On Tuesday 26thJanuary St Mary’s C.E. Junior School (Old Basing) competed in the final of the Basingstoke Primary Schools Indoor Athletics Sportshall Competition at Everest Community School .

The year 5/6 children had an exciting afternoon competing in a variety of events coordinated by the Schools Sport partnership was a new experience for the majority of the team. There were 8 schools who reached the final with St. Mary’s winning the event by a massive 60 points, all children showing team spirit and good sportsmanship. The pupils are lucky to have supportive staff and parents who regularly transport  children all over Basingstoke to enable the school to compete in sporting activities.

The team were presented with the trophy and individual medals by GB U.23 Decathlete Rob Kite and are now looking forward to the County Sportshall Final which is being held in Portsmouth at the end of March. A wonderful achievement for all of them
