St Mary's take on St Anne's in the Semi Finals!
On Monday 26th February, the year 5 and 6 girls' football team travelled to St Anne's school to play their semi-final fixture, with Miss Shore and Mr King stepping in to coach. The girls played incredibly well but despite all their efforts (and a 'ghost goal' scored by Ivey but unfortunately not seen by the referee), the girls were 1-0 down at half-time. In the second half, both teams created chances and St Mary's kept pushing to get their first goal, however the opposition managed to score a second. The girls did not give up, with even the opposition coach commenting about how St Mary's played like they wanted the win more. Eventually, we were awarded a penalty for a handball. Libby took the penalty, which was saved by the goalkeeper, only to be followed superbly by Ivey. Unfortunately, this was almost the last play of the game, with the score ending 2-1 to St Anne's. Coaches Player of the Game goes to Isla who did some excellent defending throughout the game and never gave up.
