Speedy St Mary's stun in the Cross Country!
St Mary's take part in the Basingstoke Schools Cross Country competition.
On Tuesday 6th February, 16 children represented St Mary’s at the Basingstoke School’s Cross Country event at Down Grange. First up were the year 3/4 girls, running in a field of about 140 children. Roma ran incredibly well and finished 4th in the competition, an amazing achievement. The 3/4 boys were next, in a very tough group. They all ran their best and the cheering from the side lines spurred them on, with Marcus finishing in 6th position overall. The year 5/6 girls had to run a longer distance, and Coco came in the top ten, meaning she was selected to represent the District in the next leg of the competition. Finally, it was the 5/6 boys’ turn, of which we only took three year 5’s in the end, who all ran superbly. All the St Mary’s runners finished their races strongly and gave 100% effort in their performances. Well done to all the competitors and thank you to all the parents who came and supported the children.
