On Tuesday 6^th February, 16 children represented St Mary’s at the Basingstoke School’s Cross Country event at Down Grange. First up were the year 3/4 girls, running in a field of about 140 children. Roma ran incredibly well and finished 4^th in the competition, an amazing achievement. The 3/4 boys were next, in a very tough group. They all ran their best and the cheering from the side lines spurred them on, with Marcus finishing in 6^th position overall. The year 5/6 girls had to run a longer distance, and Coco came in the top ten, meaning she was selected to represent the District in the next leg of the competition. Finally, it was the 5/6 boys’ turn, of which we only took three year 5’s in the end, who all ran superbly. All the St Mary’s runners finished their races strongly and gave 100% effort in their performances. Well done to all the competitors and thank you to all the parents who came and supported the children.
