Basingstoke Silver Band Concert - Saturday 25th October
Senior Choir Autumn Concert – A night at the movies with Basingstoke Silver Band
On Saturday 25th October 2014, the Elizabeth Hall in Hook rocked to the sound of the cornets, euphoniums, trombones and tubas as the Basingstoke Silver Band held their Autumn Concert. This year they kindly invited us along to sing.
The Senior Choir sang two sets of songs, many with links to movies, including a challenging but fun Glee Mashup of Rhinna’s “Umbrella” and “Singing in the Rain” and a beautiful Celtic Ballad from the Disney film Brave, “Touch the Sky”. The choir ended their performance with a first world war tribute with only the boys in the choir singing with great confidence “It’s a long way to Tipperary”. The children enjoyed listening to the band who performed songs such as “Happy” from Despicable Me and “Let it Go” from Frozen. In gratitude to the choir, members of the band will be visiting St Mary’s next term to give a concert and brass demonstration to all the children. Thanks to Mrs Chittey who accompanied us so ably once again.
