St Mary's Netball Team Through to the Hampshire Games!
Eight Year 5/6 pupils represented our school in the Basingstoke Netball Finals at Russell Howard Park on Monday 18th March.
The St Mary’s netball team, took to Russell Howard park again for the final round of games. They began their afternoon by playing five local primary schools who were part of their pool. Our first match started with a win against Tadley scoring 1-0. As you can imagine, this filled our team with enormous confidence. Spurred on by this success, they then proceeded to win all of the games in their group. These results saw us safely through to the semi-finals, where our team had to put up a good fight for their place in the finals. Throughout this, the team remained focussed and worked hard defensively to mark their players and intercept the ball. With all of this hard work, came a win and a place in the final play off. Again, our children showed how well they can work as a team and gave in 100% until the end of the match whistle was blown. St Mary’s now have 8 very excited pupils who will now be competing in the Hampshire Games in the summer.
A big thank you to the parents that came along to show their support. We enjoyed having a big crowd on the side-lines cheering us along.
