The Basingstoke Sportshall Athletics Finals took place at Richard Aldworth School on 12^th March 2019.

All the St Mary’s children performed exceptionally well in a variety of events with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Isla finished 1^st in the 1 length sprint, Imogen, Sam, Connor and Ryan attained a creditable 3^rd in their individual sprints. Ryan came 2^nd in the speed bounce and javelin whilst Isla achieved a personal best in the javelin finishing 3^rd with Connor 3^rd in target throw. Two superb long jumps saw Quin and Eliane also attain 3^rd place overall.

The relays proved challenging with a few difficult baton change overs but, true to form, our pupils tried their utmost to make amends.

The finals results were extremely tense, with St Mary’s ending the afternoon with bronze medals just 2 points behind Winklebury in the silver medal position.

As is always the case, we are very proud of all the children who took part who are always so sporting and enthusiastic and a real credit to St Mary’s Thank you also to all those parents who stayed, supported and helped organise the children to their events.

Our participants were: Connor, Harry, Samuel, Michael, Ryan, Quin, Eliane, Hannah, Bella, Imogen, Alexis, Isla.
