Parent Update 9.7.20
Dear Parents and carers
This week your child will have received their report, if they are currently in school or have visited their teacher. Any remaining reports will be available to pick up from Reception, tomorrow. If you wish to discuss the contents of the report with your child’s teacher, please email them so that they can set up a phone call with you. As a reminder the teachers’ emails are listed below:

We are currently finalising our risk assessment in line with official guidance for the reopening of schools in September. Most of our procedures have already been in place for some time and we will continue to review them in the light of any changes that occur.
There is no doubt that school will continue to look different, however we are looking forward to welcoming your children back into an environment that will be as safe as is possible for all staff and pupils. For those children who have not been able to return to school, please do start gently preparing your child for a different school experience to what they have previously been used to.
As soon as the full risk assessment is completed and approved by the Governing Body we will share the full details with you. However, in advance of this please take note of the following information:
- Classes will remain in what can been described as a ‘bubble’ and will not mix at any time, including break times.
- Each class will be taught by one of our teachers and be supported by another member of school staff.
- Start times (drop off) and end times (collection) will be staggered with four points of entry for different year groups.
- Children should wear full school uniform including school shoes.
- On PE days children will come into school in their PE Kit.
- All children will have a set place with their own equipment (stationery etc.), provided by school - cloakrooms will not be in use, therefore children should not bring in rucksacks.
- Children must not bring in any unnecessary equipment, therefore they are only permitted to bring with them their lunchbox/break time snack, water bottle and coat on rainy days. These will remain under their desk during the day.
- Children must not bring in a PE kit, pencil case, or any backpacks/bags of any sort. Mobile phones must not be brought into school as they can no longer be signed in and out of the office for safe keeping.
- Children will now be able to take reading books to and from school.
- 2 hot dinner options will be available daily, this will be eaten in their classrooms.
- Social distancing will be adhered to, as much as is physically possible in a school environment.
- Children will be reminded to regularly wash their hands. Each classroom will have hand soap and/or hand sanitiser available as well as equipment for staff to clean tables, chairs, equipment etc. throughout the day.
- Parents will not be allowed into the school building, – any queries should be shared with teachers or the office staff via phone or email. Should a child become unwell while they are at school a parent will be allowed in to collect them.
- There will be no opportunity for face to face meetings with staff at the present time.
- Please can only one adult where possible collect and drop off children each day and if at all possible do not bring siblings with you, this will enable parents to maintain social distancing at drop off and collection points.
- We would encourage families to walk to school where possible as Staff will still need to use the parent car park.
- As was the situation before school closed, if your child exhibits any symptoms of COVID 19 they should not attend school and we ask if you could let the office know. The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
- high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
- Should a child show any of the above symptoms whilst they in school, we will contact you and the child will be safely looked after away from other members of their class.
- In both of the above cases, your child will need to be tested and the information can be found on this link (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested)
All other illnesses should be reported to the school office in the usual way, by leaving a message on the school absence reporting line.

Whilst they have been back in school, Year 6 have been doing some transition activities to support their move to their next school. The School Nursing Service has also provided the Powerpoint resource below – ‘Rise Above for schools’, which you may find useful as a follow up to our activities and to support your child over the summer break.
The links below provide more activities and resources for year 6/7 pupils and parents during transition into secondary school
