Two Minutes Silence
St Mary's marks Remembrance Day
Today the whole school came together to remember all of those services men and women who have lost their lives or been injured during both world wars and in more recent conflicts. Before joining those who had gathered in Trafalfar Square, we reminded ourselves about why we remember and heard stories about the strength of two former service people who have benefitted from the work of the British Legion and Help for Heroes.
At 11.00am the whole school fell silent as we listened to the bugler marking the beginning of the silence. Our time of remembrance ended with the following words:
'When you go home, tell them of us and say
For their tomorrow, we gave our today.'
To mark this important time of the year every child in the school made their own poppy which can now be found in our whole school display
